Our tutor this year will be the American Quilter Leanne McGiveron
Leanne is the designer, photographer, educator and storyteller behind
Sumac Studios. Blending discovery, research, and design, she transforms global adventures into narrative quilts - rich with color and texture. Her work celebrates exploration, resilience, and the uniqueness of each location, reflecting where art, science, and landscapes intersect. Leanne’s continues to expand her #QuiltYourAdventure collection, featuring work that includes Ireland, Antarctica, and the Galápagos Islands, with upcoming additions of Southern Africa, and Jordan.

Join me as we travel from Ireland to Antarctica to the Galápagos Islands—and beyond—to uncover the inspiration behind the quilts. Along the way, I will invite you to journey alongside me—and to imagine how your own adventures might unfold in fabric, thread, and story.’’

Friday 27th February
9am set up in the Asgard suite, tea/coffee snacks,
Workshop with Leanne, she will be with us for the full weekend but have workshop on Friday, you will receive an exclusive Celtic Knot pattern as well as tuition from Leanne, two groups will have a workshop on Friday, you are also able to sew what ever you want over the weekend.
Lunch
6.30pm Gala dinner, a three course Table D’Hote meal in the restaurant.
After Dinner presentation, show and tell.
Continue late night sewing if you choose.
Saturday 28th February
Asgard suite open for 8am
11am, Leanne McGiveron’s presentation and exhibition of quilts in the Bay suite
Tea/ coffee and refreshments, Quilt Circle 2nd Birthday celebration.
Access to Fabric shops.
Lunch.
All day sewing in the Asgard suite.

Quilting Weekend in
Venue: Arklow Bay Hotel, Arklow, Co.Wicklow.
Situated about an hour from Dublin, Carlow and Wexford, this hotel is a quilter’s paradise! A short stroll to the Irish sea, to stretch between sewing projects, not to mention, the Bay Leisure centre offering a 20 metre pool, steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi, all of those aches will soon be gone!
You can also unwind and treat yourself to some ‘me time’ away from the giant conference room
The spacious and bright conference room offers space for all your quilting needs while the stunning 4 star hotel offers a beautiful relaxing surrounding when you need a break from sewing, if you are local you are welcome to commute and join the fun!
We will have the full use of the spacious and bright conference room, While we make a Mystery Quilt designed by the talented Timi @scatteredbobbins.
This beginner friendly quilt will offer lots of intriege and fun to the weekend.
On Friday we will go to Avoca for a guided tour of the Avoca Handweaver’s Mill, in Avoca Village
On Saturday there will be a Pop up fabric shop from celtic fusion fabrics... because there is nothing better than fabric.
Also on Saturday we will be joined in a show and tell by Tomomi from Slaney Quilting Studio. before we continue to work on our weekend quilt.
Sunday we will have meditation and a little chair yoga, completion of the quilt and tea/ coffee and scones before we part company
